Community Outreach

The Community Outreach program is committed to learning, understanding and helping to articulate the needs and dreams of the local community with the aim of improving the quality of life in the Norris Square neighborhood and lower northeast Philadelphia. The program ensures that local residents are given a voice in the planning and implementation of Norris Square Community Alliance's services and affordable housing development.

The Community Outreach program also manages the Norris Square Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC), which serves as a valuable source of information on publicly funded services that benefit lower income residents, including programs run through the City’s Office of Housing and Community Development. Activities of the Community Outreach program include:

• Block Organization/Block Captains
• Troubles with nuisance activities & buildings
• Monthly Newsletter: Mi Barrio
• Access and Referrals to City Services
• Discuss solutions for safety & security
• Assistance organizing neighborhood clean-ups
• Connections to community organizations
• Informational meetings, trainings, & workshops
• Assistance with acquisition and use of vacant land
