The Organizing Department of NSCA has existed in various forms over the years; it has included residents, volunteers, and staff with different skills and experiences, and has been the soul of the organization.

Currently, the Organizing department exists to develop resident participation throughout the neighborhood, and within programs at NSCA. Organizing is committed to organizing blocks in the neighborhood, and creating a network of residents who are committed to improving the quality of life, empowering their neighbors, and ensuring the safety of their families.

Organizing also serves as an information base regarding city services, through the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) with the Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC)

Residents and community groups interested in working together to influence land use & development, city services, and quality of life in the Norris Square neighborhood.

Some of the issues we can address together:

• Block Organization/Block Captains
• Troubles with nuisance activities & buildings
• Quarterly Newsletter: Mi Barrio
• Access and Referrals to City Services
• Discuss solutions for safety & security
• Assistance organizing neighborhood clean-ups
• Connections to community organizations
• Informational meetings, trainings, & workshops
• Assistance with acquisition and use of vacant land
• Other activities, working together to improve our neighborhood and community
