The Mission of this Department is to provide well thought out investment strategies for NSCA and for NSCA’s constituents, establishes highest and best use recommendations and implementation strategies designed to strengthen the Real Estate core of NSCA and the Norris Square community and maximize return on investment on all NSCA real estate owned assets.

We accomplish our mission by: funding opportunities and investment opportunities as they change and or present themselves.

Maintain Existing Housing Stock by actively assisting home owner’s to insure continued homeownership and seeking out abandoned, foreclosed upon and distressed homes for acquisition, renovation and sale or lease to local qualified participants.

Preserving Affordable Housing by implementing weatherization and other programs designed to extend the life expectance of the home and to reduce the cost of operation of the home to the homeowner.

Completing New Construction Projects which include the development of La Torre, a ten home single family ownership project completed in 1998, Casa Carmen Aponte Senior Housing Project consisting of 35 rental units completed in 1999 and Hunter School Home Ownership Project consisting of 48 unit single family mixed income homes completed in 2009 which are actively being sold to qualified buyers.

Purchasing and Rehabilitating Homes for sale and or lease. This ongoing activity allows us to acquire blighted, vacant and/or abandoned properties and making them available to our constituents with and without federal, state and local restrictions.

Redeveloping Underutilized Properties in order to provide the community with residential, recreational and professional opportunities to enhance the individuals’ quality of life. Opportunities like; home Ownership, recreational activities, personal and professional development, childcare, alternative education, cultural enrichment and other opportunities that strengthen and support our community.

Providing Property Management services designed to improve the tenants housing experience while maintaining and extending the life our assets. We offer affordable rental housing in a transitional manner, were our tenants can benefit with the other NSCA department programs to improve their lives. NSCA has a variety of rental housing to match the community needs, from 24hrs emergency maintenance, one, two and three bedroom apartments, large family homes, to apartments designed for our senior population. New applications are accepted all year long.
